
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has fled Sri Lanka in a navy jet, amid mass protests over the island’s financial crisis.
The country’s air force confirmed the 73-three hundred and sixty five days-extinct flew to the Maldives with his wife and two safety officials.
The president has appointed High Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe as acting president.
Mr Wickremesinghe declared a order of emergency and suggested the navy to restore speak, as protesters stormed his location of business and demanded that he furthermore resign.
Sri Lanka is facing its worst financial crisis for a protracted time with rampant inflation and food shortages.
